Andrea Bookout

Transition Program Coordinator

Began at Teachwell:

Why did you choose this field?

I choose this field because I enjoy teaching and having a positive impact on youth.

What or who most inspires you?

I am inspired by groups of people working together for a common goal.

What was your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject in school was physical education.

Why Teachwell?

I choose Teachwell because I can see the benefits of having a strong transition for our students from high school to the work force. I like how Teachwell incorporates a wholistic approach to everyday living through education, jobs, and community living.

What keeps you motivated?

I stay motivated first by making sure I am taking care of myself outside of work (usually running) then coming into work ready to go. I find that having group goals for each day helps to stay on task.

How do you hope to make a difference?

I believe I can make a difference by showing students possibilities they didn't think they had before.

Goals for the future?

My goal for the future is to have a program people can trust and rely on for information, connections, and stability.

What is your background experience – degrees, experience, skills?

I have a background in special education as a paraprofessional, as a Transition Coordinator, as well as a Direct Support Professional. I have my teaching degree in Physical Education and minors in coaching and adapted PE.

People would be surprised to know that I . . .

Outside of teaching, I enjoy wood working, farming, running and camping. I also really like funnel cakes.
