Why did you choose this field?

I chose this field because every child and adult deserve a voice in this world. It is a very rewarding career and it makes me happy to see even the smallest gains.

What or who most inspires you?

My faith, my family and friends, a good book, living a healthy lifestyle, and being at my happy place (the lake).

What was your favorite subject in school?

Linguistics and reading.

Why Teachwell?

I am ready for new challenges in a school environment. The staff has been very encouraging and kind and I knew that it was the right place at the right time.

What keeps you motivated?

My spouse and children, living a healthy lifestyle, and success stories of my clients.

How do you hope to make a difference?

I hope to be a guide post for students as they follow their trajectory for success outside of school.

Goals for the future?

Continue to build my knowledge and skills with working with children of various ages.

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

I received my Bachelors degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa and my Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of South Dakota. For two years during my undergrad, I worked at a cluster school in Cedar Falls, Iowa where I worked with children ages 5-7 with various disabilities. Following graduate school, I worked with a contract company traveling to skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, and hospitals for about 3 years. My most recent job was working in a skilled nursing facility along with home health services. I have loved all of my experiences working with children and adults in various settings.

People would be surprised to know that I . . .

love sand volleyball, water skiing, and the Iowa Hawkeyes!
