Gabriell Lopez

Success Coach

Began at Teachwell:

Why did you choose this field?

I have a passionate desire to see students/teenagers with mental and/or behavioral disorders excel in life whether it be becoming a mechanic, a business owner, or working for a fortune 500 company.

What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

Either a Police Officer or a Probation Officer. Still thinking about those throughout my life but who knows where I will be in a few years.

What or who most inspires you?

People. In the last five years, I have met a variety of different people, good and bad, strong and weak; they're my inspiration to keep on the fight for bettering the lives of those that need it and strengthening the ones that don't. My inspiration comes from humanity.

Why Teachwell?

Being Ground Zero for a second chance for many of our students truly makes this a dignified and admirable place to work for. Everything Teachwell stands for and everything it will become simply shows that we're just getting started!

What are you proudest of?

Personally: I have decided to go back to school for a dual degree in psychology and public administration. Furthering my knowledge and studies into the realm of behaviors and public service will be an achievement of mine. Professionally: Witnessing the academic and positive social behaviors changing in the young lives I have the pleasure of working with.

How do you hope to make a difference?

Creating the lasting professional relationships across Teachwell and providing each and every student with the dignity, mentorship, honesty, and academic venture for their lives after graduation.

What lessons has your work life taught you?

Don't give up on people. Their are many out there that need to be reached out and stretching your arms to them, providing conversation and the will to make changes can be infectious in the long run.

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

I have been working with young lives from a variety of different backgrounds since high school whether it was volunteering at church groups to working with immigration. I currently hold a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and will be going back to school to further my studies.

People would be surprised to know that I . . .

just moved to Sioux Falls in August of this year originally from Miami, FL. This year has been the first time in my life to touch snow!
