Why did you choose this field?

I love working with young learners and I am passionate about science and discovery! I am thrilled that I get to combine my favorite things into one vocation.

What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

I thought I would be an astronaut veterinarian.

What or who most inspires you?

I am inspired by the astounding intricacy and beauty of the universe. My heroes are my husband and family, Key and Peele, Bill Nye, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Rosalind Franklin, Marie Curie, Kermit the Frog, and Bert and Ernie.

What are you proudest of?

I am proudest of my own education and I am proud of all students who have worked with me in my classroom.

How do you hope to make a difference?

I hope to make a difference one "Aha!" moment at a time.

What lessons has your work life taught you?

Take pride in all victories and show honor and respect everyone's journey.

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a minor in German Language Studies from the University of Minnesota. I have a Masters of Education from University of Sioux Falls. I am a PhD candidate in Sustainability and Environmental Studies at the University of South Dakota.

People would be surprised to know that I . . .

People are often surprised that I missed out on US government and US history because I was living in Germany (where they teach governmental policy and world history during the 11th and 12th grades).
