Lorelei Thompson, PT

Physical Therapist

Began at Teachwell:

 1996

Why did you choose this field?

I wanted to work with children and adults and helping to improve their quality of life.

What or who most inspires you?

My family is my inspiration.  I am also inspired by the children and families that I have the opportunity to work with and the obstacles they overcome.

Why Teachwell?

I started at TeachWell many years ago for the opportunity to work with children

What keeps you motivated?

The smiles and laughter of the children that I work with are very motivating.   The sparkle in their eye when they learn to walk, jump, propel a wheelchair, catch a ball, ride a trike or bike or be independent is wonderful.

How do you hope to make a difference?

My hope is that I can help a child be more independent and confident as they play and interact with their family and friends.

Favorite subject in school?

Biology and Anatomy

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

I have a BS in Biology from USD and a BS in Physical Therapy from UND.  I worked at Avera McKennan for 5 years providing therapy in the areas of inpatient rehab, aquatic therapy, the NICU, general pediatrics, and acute physical therapy.  I started at EDEC in 1996 providing service to the Brandon Valley school district.  My specialty areas are pediatrics, neuro-rehab, and aquatic therapy.

What is the one thing you would like people to know about you?

 I like to laugh.

What quirky thing are you known for around the office?

I have difficulty getting to places on time.
