Allie LaFave, BCBA
Began at Teachwell:
2025
Why did you choose this field?
I chose to become a BCBA because I have a deep passion for helping individuals thrive. I’ve always been fascinated by behavior, understanding the “why” behind actions and using that knowledge to make meaningful changes. I especially love working with children and supporting them in reaching their full potential. Becoming a BCBA allows me to combine my love for people, behavior science, and purposeful impact in one meaningful career.
What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
Zoologist
What or who most inspires you?
My daughters inspire me every single day. They are my constant reminder of resilience, love, and hope. I’m also deeply inspired by the children I work with and the progress they make, no matter how big or small. Watching a child overcome challenges and reach new milestones fuels my passion for this work. Additionally, I’m inspired by families who advocate fiercely for their children.
Why Teachwell?
I chose Teachwell because it is a student-centered organization that prioritizes progress and growth. I value the focus on data-driven decision making and the opportunity to work alongside professionals who are equally passionate about making a meaningful impact. Being part of a team that shares the same commitment to student success makes the work both rewarding and inspiring.
What are you proudest of?
I’m most proud of completing my BCBA certification, raising my family, and starting my own nonprofit.
How do you hope to make a difference?
I hope to make a difference by building strong, trusting relationships with the individuals and families I work with. I believe that real change happens through connection and collaboration. By working as part of a supportive team, I strive to create positive, lasting impacts and help individuals develop the skills they need to become more independent and confident in their daily lives.
What lessons has your work life taught you?
My work life has taught me the importance of being adaptable. Every child, every situation, and every day is different. I’ve learned to think outside the box and approach challenges creatively to meet individual needs. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful genuine connections can be in building trust and driving progress. Most of all, I’ve learned that children are incredibly resilient, and their strength continues to inspire me in both my personal and professional life.
What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?
I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Sioux Falls in 2018. I later earned my master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism from Ball State University in 2022. During that time, I spent six years as a certified special education teacher in the public school setting, where I provided both behavioral interventions and academic support to students with diverse needs. Upon completing my BCBA certification, I accepted a position at Teachwell, where I’m excited to continue supporting students through individualized, evidence-based practices.
