Carlie Larson, MA CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Began at Teachwell:

 2023

Why did you choose this field?

I knew I wanted to work in health care, but also loved working with kids so being an SLP fit the bill for this. I didn't know anything about speech pathology. I took an Introduction into Communication Disorders as a "filler" class and learned to love it.

What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

A dental hygienist. Which is crazy. I hate the dentist.

What or who most inspires you?

Getting the most out of life for myself and my family

Why Teachwell?

I've been interested in teletherapy the last few years and wanted a change/challenge in my career.

What are you proudest of?

My two children

How do you hope to make a difference?

I would love to make a difference by making connections with my students, families, and the districts I serve.

What lessons has your work life taught you?

My career has taught me to be flexible. No two days are the same and I've learned to just roll with the punches.

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

I have a bachelors and masters degree from The University of South Dakota. I worked for the Sioux Falls School District for 13 years serving elementary schools and early childhood. The last 9 years in the district I did birth to three, preschool, and autism evaluations.

People would be surprised to know that I . . .

have a certification in nutritional therapy
