Why did you choose this field?
I chose this field because I enjoy working with children and helping them develop the skills they need to be successful in everyday life. Seeing their progress, increased confidence, and the positive impact on their independence and quality of life is what makes this field so rewarding to me.
What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
A professional basketball player.
What or who most inspires you?
I am inspired by other therapists who make a meaningful impact in children's lives and by hearing the stories of the differences they have made. I am also inspired by the children I have worked with and the progress they have achieved. Knowing that I've made a positive impact on a child's life motivates me to continue growing as a therapist and strive to make that same difference for every child I work with.
Why Teachwell?
I have several friends who work at Teachwell, and they have all spoken very highly of their experiences. Hearing about the supportive work environment and the organization's commitment to helping students succeed made me excited about the opportunity to join the team.
What are you proudest of?
I am most proud of the progress the children I work with make toward their goals. Seeing a child overcome a challenge, build confidence, and achieve something they once struggled with is incredibly rewarding. Knowing I played a part in helping them become more successful is what makes this career so meaningful to me.
How do you hope to make a difference?
I hope to make a positive difference in the lives of the children I work with by helping them achieve their goals and build confidence in their abilities. Whether it's mastering a new skill, becoming more independent, or simply knowing they have someone who believes in and supports them through challenges, I want each child to feel encouraged and capable of succeeding.
What lessons has your work life taught you?
Every child progresses at their own pace, and I have learned that building a trusting relationship is just as important as the skills we are working on.
What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?
I received my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of South Dakota. I spent my first two years working in outpatient pediatrics, where I supported children across a variety of skill areas, including emotional regulation, executive functioning, fine and gross motor skills, and overall participation in daily activities.
