Kelly Josko

English-Language Arts Teacher

Began at Teachwell:

Why did you choose this field?

I feel called to the field of education, and I love that in teaching you may have even the tiniest influence on the future of society.

What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

A lawyer or a teacher.

What one word best describes you?

Caregiver.

What or who most inspires you?

My husband is a true Renaissance Man - he has done so much and is good at so many things. It's an inspiration how he keeps following where his talents lead.

Why Teachwell?

Because it sounded so interesting! Also having two friends who already loved working for Teachwell helped :-)

What quirky thing are you known for at work?

Being protective about my library!

What are you proudest of?

I am proudest of the past couple years. I chose a new career at age 39, completed graduate school at age 40, and in the middle of all of this managed to continue working and raising my own four kids, as well as taking in a foster child.

How do you hope to make a difference?

I don't need to make a big difference. I will be satisfied if I can help make life more interesting or better for any person in any small way.

What lessons has your work life taught you?

I didn't have the greatest work ethic when I was younger, so each job that I have held (including parenting) has honed my work ethic. During my time working outside the home I have learned to work with people of a variety of backgrounds.

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

BS in Communications from SDSU in 2001, MA in Secondary Education from USD in 2019, and began teaching during a pandemic.

People would be surprised to know that I . . .

listen to old country music.
