Kyra Osland, BCBA
Began at Teachwell:
2024
Why did you choose this field?
I love being able to teach students skills that they and their families/staff never thought they could accomplish!
What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
When I was young, I initially thought I would be a lawyer because my family always told me I am good at arguing and winning. As I grew up I realized I didn't want to argue for a living, I wanted to help others for a living.
What or who most inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is some of the other Behavior Analysts I have learned from along the way in my career. I have seen the differences they have made and want to be able to do the same. My son also inspires me to be a hard worker in order to provide families the support I would want him to have!
Why Teachwell?
Teachwell has shown me that they will make accommodations and adjustments to support people in areas that other companies and schools are not willing/able to. This applies to not just the students and their families, but the employees as well. Teachwell sees the value and strengths in every student and employee. Then, they amplify it!
What are you proudest of?
I am most proud of completing my Master's Degree in ABA with a 4.0 while raising a newborn baby and still working full time. Don't ever give up your dreams!
How do you hope to make a difference?
I hope to show families and teachers that students are capable of a lot more than we may think. That no challenge is too big, and that any behavior can change.
What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?
While attending undergrad at the University of Sioux Falls, I began working at LifeScape as a DSP. This introduced me to the world of ABA. Each year I worked my way up the ladder there until I was a Behavior Therapist. I finished my Master's in Applied Behavior Analysis at Capella University in 2022. In February of 2024, I became a Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Wanting to branch out to see what other companies have to offer, I am now working here at Teachwell!
People would be surprised to know that I . . .
