Why did you choose this field?
School was never easy for me, I could have easily dropped out. There was one teacher that never gave up on me though, and if it wasn't for him, my life today could be intensely different. I chose this field to help others succeed and relate the benefit of hard work and determination.
What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
It was a strong tie between Nuclear Medicine or Batman. My goal was always to get into the medical field, but after suffering severe concussions, I had to refocus, monitor and adjust. The old saying goes, "If life throws you a curveball, be sure to hit the ground running."
What or who most inspires you?
My wife, Mollie, and parents, Larry & Cheryl.
Why Teachwell?
Teachwell's reputation speaks for itself. The focus is entirely on the students rather than bureaucracy. What better place to help students thrive.
What are you proudest of?
Jingles, my cat we rescued from a blizzard 16 years ago. The veterinarian said he wouldn't make it through the night. We just celebrated another birthday!
How do you hope to make a difference?
It happens one student at a time. Everyone needs someone to believe in them and have their back.
What lessons has your work life taught you?
Everyone has the opportunity to be great. All one needs is to be given a chance, feel true support, and have confidence in themselves to follow through.
What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?
I graduated from Augustana University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology and worked in the Sioux Falls School District as a Behavior Facilitator for 5 years.
People would be surprised to know that I . . .
Couch-surfed through Europe, lived in Liverpool, and skydived in Italy.
