Megan Fuglseth, MA SLP
Began at Teachwell:
2025
Why did you choose this field?
At first, I didn't know why or if I would even like the field of speech-language pathology. I kept going because I was enjoying my classes, however, I never felt passionate about it during college. Then, following graduation, I served as a college campus missionary for two years. It was during those years that I realized the importance of relationships. I became convicted that we all desire to be seen, known, and loved - and communication is at the very heart of that desire. As a speech-language pathologist, I get the privilege of helping people with their communication needs, which responds to their deepest desire to be in relationship with others.
What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I was always certain that I was going to be an elementary teacher - that is, until I took one semester of classes and didn't love them. I took a risk and switched majors to pursue a career in speech-language pathology, and I'm so glad I did!
Who or what most inspires you?
I am inspired by my family and friends, who have been amazing role-models for me, helped me to realize my own desire for authentic relationships with others, and have supported me through all of life's ups and downs!
Why Teachwell?
I made an unexpected job switch early in my career, and Teachwell was so supportive from the start! Teachwell valued me both personally and professionally, while offering me flexibility in a job that I love. I am so grateful!
How do you hope to make a difference?
I hope to help students achieve their communication goals, but even more importantly, I hope to make every student feel seen, known, and loved for who they are. When these desires are met, there is nothing that they can't accomplish!
What lessons has your work life taught you?
Who you are is so much more important than what you do.
What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?
I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND in 2020. After graduation, I served as a college campus missionary for two years at the University of South Dakota, where I led Bible studies and mentored college students. I loved USD and the community so much, I decided to apply for graduate school there as well. I received my master's degree from the University of South Dakota in 2024. Although I am still early in my career, I think that my heart was made to be a school-based SLP!
