Megan Sengos, MA CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Began at Teachwell:

 2024

Why did you choose this field?

I attended speech therapy as a child and always admired my speech therapist. I enjoy the broad range and evolving field of speech therapy, which keeps it challenging and so wonderful! I also love working with children, which keeps life interesting every single day!

What did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

I wanted to write poetry, so some form of playing with words and language was always on my mind!

What or who most inspires you?

My family, friends, and travel

Why Teachwell?

This is a place where a team approach is important, and they put their student's and staff's needs at the forefront.

What are you proudest of?

Professionally: Writing a grant to provide 4 communication boards to playgrounds at my previous school district as well as helping multiple students and families gain access to AAC devices! Personally: My daughters

How do you hope to make a difference?

I hope to help students realize their language has power and provide them access to communication in any way that fits them best.

What lessons has your work life taught you?

Celebrate the small things!

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

I received my bachelor's in business marketing from University of South Dakota and after working for a few years, knew it wasn't the route for me. I needed to 'help' people and make a difference, so I chose to go back to school to receive my master's in speech-language pathology (also from USD) and haven't looked back since! My passion is working with autistic students as well as implementing and programming AAC devices.

People would be surprised to know that I . . .

I completed RAGBRAI in 2021 (480-mile bike ride across the state of Iowa in 7 days)!
