Why did you choose this field?

I chose this field as I wanted to work with people and make a difference in their lives.

Which of your friends or family do you most look up to and why?

My parents and my husband. They were/are all teachers and had the love of working with kids and families. It is fun to see the impact they made when former students stop to visit with them.

What one word best describes you?

 Determined

What was your favorite subject in school?

My favorite class in school was Reading.  I love to read.

How do you hope to make a difference?

I hope to make a difference for school districts and students that may be facing challenges. I like to think out of the box to assist students, families, staff, and even districts.

What is your background? Experience, degrees, skills, etc.?

I am an Augustana graduate with my Master's in Communication Disorders from USD. I worked in a rehab setting right out of college serving hospitals and nursing homes. After a few years, I worked in the Sioux Falls School District for approximately 14 years doing speech and language therapy in a variety of settings - working with students in self contained classrooms to gifted students and with numerous disabilities. I have spent over a decade now at Teachwell. I have always had a passion for working with students with autism and for 8 years at TW, I worked with the Brandon Valley district as their Autism Consultant. For the last couple of years, I have worked as the related service coordinator, as our staff has grown to over 30 employees that are SLP's, OT's, PT's, or school psychologists. This allows me to work closely with many districts all over the state and even in MN as we strive to help others and make an impact on children's lives.
